Sonia Dasoar

Associate

Sonia joined Jas Bhalla Works as an Associate in 2025, leading on a variety of urban design, public realm and landscape-led projects. She brings over twelve years of experience ranging from early phase infill housing delivery to residential led mixed use masterplans for local authorities, including LB Hackney, Greenwich, Haringey, Barking & Dagenham and Southwark. She is a well versed architect at all stages and is experienced at managing complex projects and leading large design teams as Main Consultant.

As an experienced architect whose work is grounded in placemaking, delivering regeneration and community engagement led projects, Sonia is ambitious about working collaboratively with communities through co-design and delivering social value with clients.

Previously working at Allies and Morrison and Adam Khan Architects, she gained an approach to design that focuses on how homes and places can enable sociable and sustainable communities, notably reflected in her work on the Custom House Masterplan for the London Borough of Newham. This masterplan was co-designed with the local community and involved the development of a variety of housing typologies to meet the needs of the site, integrating community, commercial and healthcare spaces within the neighbourhood.

She has delivered a number of planning applications including the early phases of the Custom House Masterplan and the Tustin Estate Masterplan. Her early stage strategic feasibility work includes a series of site studies for nine sites across Hackney and Dalston Town Centres, as well as the production of development briefs for the Blackhorse Yard Masterplan.

She is a mentor to junior colleagues, contributing extensive experience across diverse projects. Sonia is also a member of the Hackney’s Regeneration Design Advisory Group (RDAG).
