Sonia Dasoar

Associate

Sonia joined Jas Bhalla Works as an Associate in 2025, leading on a variety of urban design, public realm and landscape-led projects. She brings over twelve years of experience ranging from early phase infill housing delivery to residential led mixed use masterplans for local authorities, including LB Hackney, Greenwich, Haringey, Barking & Dagenham and Southwark.

As an experienced urban designer whose experience is grounded in placemaking, delivering regeneration and community engagement led projects, Sonia is ambitious about working collaboratively with communities through co-design. Previously at Adam Khan Architects, she worked on a number of early stage strategic feasibility work including masterplan studies of nine sites across Hackney and Dalston Town Centres. She has gained an approach to design that focuses on how homes and places can enable sociable and sustainable communities, notably reflected in her work on the Custom House Masterplan for the London Borough of Newham.

Each site strategy explored options for delivering small to large-scale interventions alongside public realm and landscape design that responded sensitively to contextual challenges, including heritage sensitive and transport hub locations. This involved a number of detailed discussions with a range of external stakeholders (Eg. Local religious groups, Heritage England, TfL, etc) to define the development briefs for each site.
